Shocking Facts About Punjabi Rapper Bohemia





 Bohemia is one of the most popular rapper and music producers of today. Originally Roger David or Raja, Bohemia is a Bollywood Hollywood rapper and is known to be the first singer who has started rap in Punjabi music. Born on 15th October 1979 in Karachi, he is considered to be an innovator of Bollywood Desi hip-hop.

Premature life:

Bohemia spent his childhood in Lahore, where his father worked in Pakistan International Airlines. He was brought up as a Christian but has both Bible and Guru Granth Sahib at his home. His great-grandfather converted from Sikhism to Christianity for some reasons. After spending 7 years in Peshawar, the family shifted to the United States and settled in San Francisco’s Mission district. Bohemia developed a passion for music when he was in his early teens. He started writing Punjabi and Urdu poetry under the guidance of his father. His mother left the world when he was 16 years old.

Early life Struggle:

Nobody can win the world without hard work. Though Bohemia today is a great star but he started struggling in his teenage. He realized his passion for music and decided to follow it. He left his home and family behind to become a full -time musician. He started spending his days with a gang of other musicians. He had spent his nights by playing gigs on the roads, sleeping in cars or in the recording studios.

There came a bad time for him when he migrated to Oakland to join his cousin. Under the influence of his friends, he lost interest in music and got involved in heavy drugs and crime.  He became a local musician and started putting his written poetry to music by which he gave birth to a new genre of music.

Singing Career:

In 2002, he started working with his cousin in Oakland and there he got a chance to meet a young hip-hop producer named Sha One. He liked the singing style of Bohemia and asked him to rap it over one of his tracks. That was the time Bohemia got recognition in music and released his first album.

Debut Album: Vich Pardesan De (2002)

Bohemia described an autobiography of his life in his first album. In his songs, he described his life journey as a desi youngster who has adapted to survive in the streets of America. It was released in 2002 on a major music label (The Outfit Entertainment). He achieved a great name from his album as it was nominated in BBC UK top ten albums.

Pesa Nasha Pyar (2006)

Then his second worldwide album was released in 2006. It was the first studio album released under the label of Universal Music India. Of the Hip-hop genre, it comprised of a total of 19 tracks with the duration of around 59 minutes.

Da Rap Star: Third Album (2009)

As the name indicates, this album was entirely based on the life of Bohemia. He put all his effort to show his talent. He even used a lot of bass, beats, and keyboards with a tribute track which was dedicated to Malkit Singh. The song “Ek Tera Pyar” was one of the best songs and is still liked by many.

Gulabi and Thousand Thoughts (2012)

Both Gulabi and Thousand Thoughts were released in 2012 under the label of Sony Music India with great success. Thousand Thoughts reached new heights by winning an international Album award at PTC Punjabi Music Awards in 2013.

Skull & Bones: The Final Chapter (2017)

It was the fifth studio album by this rapper which was released in 2017 under T-Series. With 10 tracks and duration of around 40 minutes, the album topped Indian iTunes chart within 24 hours of release.

Awards and Achievements:

Bohemia's life in itself is an achievement. He started fighting with life at an early age. But the best part is that his passion for music has not only changed his life but has given the audience a new version of music.

He is the one who has evolved rap in Punjabi songs. People love his music and his tracks have been nominated by various Award Organizations.

Recently Bohemia has recorded collaboration with Jamaican American superstar Sean Kingston.

The Journey of Bohemia is a great inspiration for all. He is solely responsible for bringing the trend of rap in tracks. He has given an unheard genre of music to the music industry. From a local musician to hardcore desi hip hop rap music; he has stunned the audience with his style.
